“Buy Love Here..”

… was the title of an event/social experiment that took place at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles today, as part of an ongoing documentary Russell Brand has been filming about the pursuit of happiness. The store was open for one day only and people could come in and take any one item they chose, as long as they left an item in return for someone else to later barter for. Donations from celebrities helped kick off the opening and it was quite a media frenzy. During the event there was a NikonD300s and a Canon 5Dmkll that caught my eye.

In the front of the store, there was the Nikon D300s, was equipped with a Nikon Nikkor Fisheye 10.5mm f/2.8, and FIlmtools Medium Weight Suction Cup Camera Mount with Ball Leveling Heads.

In the back was a 5Dmkll with a Canon 14mm f/2.8 Wide Angle Lens up on a suction cup or some type of rod attachment.

Now, what what did they do with these cameras you ask? Though they were not in use during the actual event, Intervalometers on both cameras cameras were installed and set up prior to the store opening. After all the space that was being rented out for the event was a vacant Just Cavalli store, and had to be converted into Brand’s “Buy Love Here” shop. With two extreme wide angle lenses at each end of the store capturing an image every few seconds, the two cameras will have made a nice time lapse for their Documentary, showing the evolution of the store leading up to the social experiment.

Towards the end of the event one of the cameramen put down his DVX100A ( why are people still shooting SD in 2010 escapes me..) and picks up his DSLR rig. Looks like a 5D or 7D using a Z-Finder and Sennheiser Shotgun Mic, with an unidentified Shoulder Mount support system. I would hope he is using a 5D, that is the only way he would be able to control gain and audio levels with the Sennheiser. Still waiting for firmware to control that on the 7D…
